What's gone on in February?

Hello!
As I sit inside and write this, I can't help but wish that I were outside in this lovely weather. It seems that the weather hasn't quite worked out what it wants to do. On some days it's lovely and sunny, but on others it's dark and gloomy.
Anyway, I digress. This month we've covered a good range of topics from Eating Disorders to Sickness to Random Acts of Kindness! Some cheerful, some more serious, but all very important.
Kicking things off, we started with Dechox where the aim is to cut out all chocolate for the month of February in order to raise awareness for heart health. How well did you do?
Not only is this a good way for people to aid the British Heart Foundation, but it's also beneficial for your health. We all like a bit of chocolate now and again, but if you physically can't give it up, then you may want to take a look at your diet and mentality.
Next up, we had world sickness day to raise awareness for all the bugs and illnesses that can go around in the winter months.
Often people will simply opt to plow themselves with medicine to stave of sickness, but there's many more things you can be doing to prevent any illness taking hold in the first place. The two biggest things are to exercise regularly and eat well. You'll also need to make sure that you're sleeping enough so that your body can recover. Remember, sleep takes up almost 50% of your life so it's important to put that at equal priority to what you do in your waking
hours.
After that we had Random Act of Kindness day - so I hope you gave out and received in equal amounts!
Although it's just a day, we spread it out into a week as the more kindness, the better our lives are. What you may not have realised is that kindness actually improves our health. Not only does it make us happy, but this influence also puts as at a lower risk of a number of diseases and health conditions.
Lastly, we discussed eating disorders and how unnecessarily prominent they are in today's society.
Eating disorders can manifest themselves in a number of ways from over exercising to under-eating to binging to bulimia. Many of them are caused by the media's portrayal of what we should look like and how we should be eating.
In reality, there's no right way to look and there are no good or bad foods. Bodies come in all shapes and sizes and when it comes to your diet, there are just foods that contain more nutrients than others. Yet, that doesn't mean that there are foods you need to completely avoid (unless they're poisonous!). We should focus on being happy and healthy, not looking a certain way or demonising foods.
