Hello! I'm so sorry that I've been away for the past few weeks. Clinics have been ridiculously busy and I've been working hard on all of the upcoming content! However, the good news is that I'm back now, and
the better news is that I've got more tips and advice to help you with your health and happiness! For the past few weeks we've been discussing a few things across my social media with one of them being the sun. I for one can't remember the last time the weather was so consistently fantastic, and understandably, more of us have wanted to venture into the great outdoors to soak of some
rays. However, the issue with this is that alongside the myriad of benefits that the sun brings, there are also a wide variety of negatives. These negatives don't need to make you scared of the sun, just simply aware that there are cautions to take before spending all day outside. Here are 3 of the best tips for making sure your skin stays healthy in this lovely weather:

Another discussion point over the last few weeks has been breathing. I know what you're thinking: "But I'm an expert! I was literally born breathing! However, breathing can be used for more than just staying alive. Practiced correctly, the breath is a great way to calm your mind and body as well as improve
your physical performance. That's why thousands upon thousands of meditations use the breath to focus the mind and centre your thoughts. For instance, take just 3 minutes now to dial in your focus onto nothing but the air flowing in through your nostrils and out through your mouth. Don't try to alter your breath, simply acknowledge how it moves; how it acts; how fast or slow it is; how gentle
or harsh. Over time, your breath will naturally slow and with it, so will your racing thoughts. Not too bad from just 180 seconds, huh? The last point we've been talking about has been movement. Movement is a natural part of the human experience, but something most of us lack in our day to day lives. Sure, we might hit the gym every now and again or go for a run when we've over indulged the night before, but the biggest benefits movement
gives us comes from consistency. Now, movement doesn't need to be boring or tedious. There's far more too it than forcing yourself off the couch to go for a 20 minute walk (although that is a good idea), movement can be fun and exciting. The key to consistent movement is finding something that you enjoy. It might be an exercise class, hiking with friends, cycling in the woods, or swimming in your
local pool. It doesn't matter what you do as long as you're doing something frequently each week that raises your heart rate and gets your limbs moving. If you have trouble engaging with movement, then here are some top tips to spice things up a little: 1. Download an audiobook:
Not all of us like to read, and those that do never seem to have enough time to catch up on all the books they want to get through. Audiobooks are the next big thing and allow for us to rattle through books with the aid of our headphones. Listening to an audiobook on your run or walk is a great way to shift your mind from the perceived monotony and onto something more engaging. 2. Get a friend involved: Exercising along can be tricky, so combining your social life can help to keep you motivated. Like I've already said, it doesn't matter what you do together, as long as it's challenging and gets your blood pumping. 3. Always take the harder route: Take the stairs, park a little bit further away from your destination, use a standing desk instead of sitting down, or walk around when you're on the phone. if there's a way to keep moving, then choose that route. It might seem small, but in the long run, it really adds up. That's all from me for now, so I hope that you manage to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather while it lasts! Head over to my website or social media for more information on the topics above, and I'll talk to you again in a couple of weeks. John. |
